Spotlight: Open course 'Reporting on Torture: The United Nations Human Rights System' This free one hour self-directed e-learning course introduces participants to United Nations mechanisms related to torture and explores a human rights-based approach to journalism. Interactive learning activities and assessments test your understanding of key concepts and enable you to apply what you have learned. Participants who successfully complete a final assessment receive a certificate of completion. The Human Rights Defenders Academy is a training program for individuals working to advance human rights and fundamental freedoms around the world through peaceful means. Participants in the Academy will:   increase their monitoring and advocacy skills; better understand the role and impact of EU foreign policy and advocacy related to human rights defenders; learn practical skills to ensure their own personal security and protection;  build networks and exchange knowledge and experience with other human rights defenders.
